Franklin Coin Shop has a long and rich history of serving Indiana and the surrounding areas since 1974 in the historic downtown of Franklin. Officially founded in 1974 during the burgeoning days of coin collecting, the shop transitioned ownership to Tom Morrison in 1988. Under Tom’s stewardship, the shop flourished, earning a reputation for trust and consistency in the numismatic community. After decades of success, Tom retired in 2022, passing the shop to its newest owner, Sid Shock.

Sid, a dynamic newcomer to the coin business, began his journey on the collector side, specializing in large-size silver certificates and Morgan/Peace Dollars. Over the years, his passion for collecting evolved into a small online business on platforms like eBay and social media. During the pandemic, as many people turned to new hobbies such as collecting and investing in gold and silver, Sid’s business rapidly expanded, building a trusted name in the online community.

As his business grew, Sid began exploring opportunities to establish a brick-and-mortar coin shop in the greater Indianapolis area. He had received several offers from local coin dealers to take over their businesses. Ultimately, Tom Morrison contacted Sid, offering him the chance to take over Franklin Coin Shop. Recognizing the shop’s stellar reputation for fairness, honesty, and exceptional customer service, Sid seized the opportunity.

Recently, Franklin Coin Shop celebrated its 50th anniversary, a milestone that reflects its enduring legacy and commitment to serving the community. With a bright future, the shop looks forward to many more years of milestones and success under Sid’s leadership.
